At a tempting temperature of about 16° C, again a fantastic natural phenomenon takes place on the island: The almond blossoms are once again scented in a sea of delicate colors.
Every year from the end of January to the middle of February, the almond trees blossom to full bloom, turning many parts of Mallorca into a beautiful Landscape. There are about 200 different varieties on the Island. They can be found scattered everywhere or in large plantations.
The origin of the almond blossom is due to the 19th century, when a vine plague destroyed the vineyards, thereby destroying the Mallorcan winegrowing. The local peasants did not hesitate for a long time to get on the almond cultivation.
Almond tees in Paguera between the exit of Es Capdella and Cala Fornells - LOCATION OF THE PHOTO
Also around Paguera you can admire numerous trees. Between Paguera and Port Andratx, on a hike towards Es Capdella or a cycling trip to Calvia, there are larger almond tree plantations. If you have a rental car, however, we recommend you go on an "almond tour". Between Valldemossa and Soller or Santanyi and Felanitx it blooms particularly splendidly.
